Wrapping up the year..

My last post was right after I had been laid off last year. In that post I sound so calm, but I can honestly tell you I was not. So here’s what has happened since the last time I was here (just about 11 months ago).

First, I got a job, and I got a job very quickly- almost exactly 1 month later I was employed. The company was great, the pay was great, but the actual job was not my cup of tea. Let’s be honest, I would have stayed there forever if I had to, but I was almost immediately miserable and hoping that I would not have to.

Second, I got another job! I know- crazy! I was able to switch back to being a product manager (for a different company), I’m there now, I love it. I took a pay and benefits cut to do it but, I am infinitely happier AND I just found out that I’m getting a raise so yay!

Third, I got a second job! After several years of only having a single job hubs and I decided to take on second jobs (we each work one day a week), at a retail store. This is for several reasons, first and foremost, the discount! The discount has been a HUGE plus for us as we’ve been able to outfit our family with fabulous quality fall/winter gear for pennies on the dollar (cheaper than a thrift store). Another huge bonus that we weren’t expecting is that the money has come in really handy. It has helped us pay for some bigger unexpected expenses.

Fourth, we’re trying out some new frugal ways starting now- usually I wait until the new year, but it seemed silly to wait! Stay tuned on that one, I think I have some more posts up my sleeve. I don’t log in and check the blog stats very often, but people still stop by! I hope they’re here to take advantage of some of the posts I’ve written about saving money.

If you’ve gotten this far, thanks for reading, things are much better here and I’m looking forward to 2024!
